DORRAINE STANLEY, CCR
Ms. Stanley is a national speaker, providing continuing education credits to court reporters. She has an extensive background in research and quality testing of court reporting products, including microphones, recorders, software, speech silencer masks, computer peripherals, and accessories. She assists leading suppliers with their product developments in an ongoing effort to better meet the needs of today’s court reporter.
TOM ECKERT
Tom Eckert has an established track record of software and hardware system integration, as well as a profound background of technical sales and marketing. Mr. Eckert holds a B.A. from the University of New Mexico, as well as postgraduate studies at the University of Phoenix and Strayer University. Tom has over 3,000 hours of instructor lead training in software and electronics with emphasis on collaborative technologies and screen casts.
JOE WINNER
Mr. Winner holds a B.S.E.E. (Electronic Engineering) degree from West Virginia University, and an M.S.E.M. (Master of Science, Engineering Management) from the University of Southern Florida. Mr. Winner was a defense industry design engineer and manager with Raytheon, E-Systems, Smiths Industries Aerospace Division, and Bendix (Allied Signal) for 20+ years. He holds three U.S. Patents (#4422073, #4464653 and #5627304) and was former chair of the IEEE Signal Processing Society for West Florida.
In 1997, Mr. Winner founded HTH Engineering, Inc. to develop and create new digital transcription and dictation software and hardware for the industry. Firsts for the industry include development of a 7-language custom digital recording system for the United Nations Headquarters General Assembly, the first PC-based video transcription system for Real Player in 1999, and creation of the industry's first "universal" multi-format PC-based transcription system in 2001.
RICHARD BALLARD, CSR, CCR
Richard Ballard has been in the high-end technical arena since 1976. Mr. Ballard has taught nationwide, including offering instruction at the National Verbatim Reporters Association. He is a software trainer for ProCAT, and is a Certified Windows XP trainer, receiving accreditation from the National Computer Science Academy.
MARY ANN PAYONK, CSR, RMR, CRR, CCP, CBC
Ms. Payonk is an independent freelance reporter in Washington, DC with over 30 years' heavy-hitting reporting experience. Ms. Payonk's goal is to inform the legal community about the benefits of utilizing realtime. She dispels common misconceptions about realtime reporting, instructs court reporters in educating their clients, marketing their services, as well as understanding the value of quality realtime.
DOROTHY MCGRATH, CSR
Dorothy McGrath is a freelance realtime reporter in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with 20 years of experience in court reporting. Ms. McGrath is the founder of the RealtimersNetwork and has written many articles for the ESPNetwork Newsletter, as well as a contributing article to Keith Vincent's E-tips. With Ms. McGrath's extensive self-taught decades-long knowledge of computers and because she is a working reporter, she is able to bridge the gap between reporters and the vendors reporters use, breaking down the technical lingo into everyday, understandable terms and practical application. Ms. McGrath's independence from any vendor allows her to give the Penn & Teller version of software/hardware.
BRECK RECORD, CSR
Mr. Record has been a reporter since January of 1984. He has been writing realtime since June of 1992 and has been perfecting it ever since. Since purchasing Eclipse in 1991, Breck has been instrumental, along with many others, in providing input and ideas in helping Advantage Software to make Eclipse better with each update. He has also done extensive amounts of CART and captioning while working in San Antonio. Breck has written articles for Newscache, the Eclipse User's Group magazine, for NCRA and frequently blogs on his website (www.breckrecord.com) as well as many other websites, including NCRA, CSRnation, TCRA and the like. Breck currently is the managing reporter for Keith & Miller Certified Court Reporters in El Paso, Texas.
FREDRIC LEDERER
Fredric I. Lederer is Chancellor Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Legal and Court Technology at the College of William & Mary’s School of Law. He received his B.S. from Polytechnic University in New York and his J.D. from Columbia University Law School where he was a member of the Board of Editors of the Columbia Law Review and recipient of the Archie O’Dawson prize. He holds an LL.M. from the University of Virginia. He served as a member of the United States Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps until 1980 when he joined the William & Mary faculty. He has served as prosecutor, defense counsel, and trial judge.
Professor Lederer is the author or co-author of eleven books, numerous articles, two law-related education television series, and is the author of a popular series of “fairy-tale” trials for elementary and middle school students. Among his works in progress is An Introduction to Basic Advocacy and Litigation in a Technological World. Professor Lederer is also the founder of the Center for Legal and Court Technology (formerly the Courtroom 21 Project), which includes the law school’s McGlothlin Courtroom, the world’s most technologically advanced trial and appellate courtroom.
